I don't know what happened to me. I don't know why I forgot all my principles: don't ever go to an American chain restaurant or coffee (McDonald's, KFC, Starbucks and so on...) when you are in China. The food is just so good in this country that you just can't go and eat that shitty greasy food that will make you fat anyway. But I was tired, I just came back from work, the subway ride had exhausted me. I was looking for a bit comfort, so I didn't even have time to realize what was happening to me that I was already looking at the Starbucks menu at the counter.
I don't know shit about Starbucks: small, normal, large, expresso, macchiato, frappucino, etc etc... They are all the same to me. So I decided to get a caramel macchiato, what the hell. When I see all these people, Chinese or foreigners, all day long, but especially in the morning, who walk around with their Starbucks cup, and they think that is so cool... that I just want to spill the content all over them.
But why do I criticize? Maybe after all, my macchiato can be good. I don't know actually, the only times I went to a Starbucks was to pee or get an orange juice. First thing I notice: the lid is not convenient. The hole is simply too small; but when you open the lid to put a straw, that is not convenient either, because any Chinese guy in a hurry will push you and spill it all over you. And I surely don't want that...The beverage? Ok. Not more, not less. Coffee+cream+chocolate+milk, in various proportions, can give you the entire Starbucks menu, right? Well, to me it is just a mixture who gives you bad breath afterwards.
Conclusion: I will never go back to Starbucks again. Not even to type on my computer and pretend I am writing the next Pulitzer Prize.
Damn, what was I thinking? Maybe I was blinded by the flashy Pizza Hut logo and didn't know where I was heading...
